Besides its film archive by which the Murnau-Foundation complies with its constitutional cultural tasks, the Foundation also collects additional film material, such as photographs, programme and press booklets and, in particular, film posters.

This collection comprises several thousand film posters. The posters refer to film titles in which the Murnau-Foundation is the right-holder as well as to film titles of other copyright-holders, which have all been checked by Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle der Filmwirtschaft (FSK) since its formation in 1949.

The Murnau-Foundation wants to make accessible on its website this stock of posters to the public, particularly interesting for film historians as well as for contemporary and art historians. For the time being about 7.600 poster images can be viewed; in the following months the Foundation will continue its project and thus complete and augment the web-stock of posters.
