This film belongs to a contingent of about 40 movies of the Murnau Foundation's legal film stock, which are subject to a so-called "Vorbehalt" (a sort of reservation).

The "Vorbehaltsfilme" (VB-Filme) are predominantly Third Reich propaganda movies whose content is glorifying war, is racist or inciting, whose release has partly been denied by the German Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle der Filmwirtschaft (FSK) and which can, according to a decision of the Murnau Foundation's Board of Supervisors, not be commercially exploited.

Instead of such an exploitation, the VB-Filme are only shown in closed screenings - for example as a part of political educational work. These presentations are introduced and accompanied by qualified specialists and are subsequently discussed with the audience.

Screenings of VB-Filme are executed in order of the Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau Foundation by the Institut für Kino und Filmkultur, Cologne.

For scientific purposes it's nevertheless possible to examine a VB-Film - after having made an appointment - directly at the Foundation in Wiesbaden.
